The Humboldt Eagles 19Us opened up a nine-run lead in the first inning and never looked back on their way to a comfortable 14-5 win over Portland Black at Bomber Field on Saturday night.
The win lifts the Eagles to 4-0 in pool play at their own tournament and earns them the top seed for Sunday’s semifinals.
They will take on No. 4 Redding at noon and if they win they will play either No. 2 Portland Black or No. 3 Sebastopol in the championship game at 5 p.m.
Joey Quen pitched four strong innings for the win on the mound, before Matt Letter pitched the fifth and final inning to help seal the win.
Jared Dixon provided the offensive highlight of the day with a big triple to help key the early offense and he finished with two RBIs and three runs.
Letter was 2-for-3 with as double and three RBIs, while Vincent Agliolo finished 1-for-1 with a double two walks and an RBI.
Nick Parker was 1-for-2 with three RBIs.
Sunday’s semifinals and championship game will be played at Bomber Field.
