Lee, Gans lead the way as Eagles 19Us close out road trip with a win

The Humboldt Eagles 19Us closed out a nine game road trip with an 8-1 win over Diablo Valley Oaks at the Reno tournament on Sunday.

Cayden Lee provided the key hit of the game, breaking a 1-1 tie with a bases-clearing double off the center field wall.

Branson Gans also was instrumental and pitched five strong innings for the victory on the mound.

The former Fortuna Husky allowed just one run on two hits and struck out 10.

Matt Letter pitched one scoreless inning in relief to seal the win, as the Eagles closed out the road trip 6-2-1 and improved to 18-8-1 overall.

Letter and mason Nichols each also had an RBI double while Rylan Lommori was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Six different Eagles players reached base after being hit by a pitch.

The Eagles return to the North Coast to host their annual summer tournament, which gets under way on Wednesday.

The five-day event will feature 12 teams in 17U and 19U brackets.
