The District 26 11-year-old Little League All-Star tournament is now down to two teams.
Undefeated Eel River will take on Redwood Empire in the championship round at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, after the RELL players kept their hopes alive with a big 13-3 win over McKinleyville on Tuesday.
The Eel River 11s have won both of their games at the tournament in Fortuna this week, defeating McKinleyville in an opening-day matchup on Sunday and also getting the better of RELL on Monday.
The two clubs will now face off a second time on Wednesday, with the championship on the line.
If the Eel River players are victorious again, they will be crowned district champs, but if RELL wins, then the two teams will play once again on Thursday night in a winner-takes-all championship showdown.
The McKinleyville 11s also won a Monday matchup against Arcata before being eliminated with their second tourney loss on Tuesday.
The 12-year-old district All-Star tournament, meanwhile, gets under way on Friday at the Redwood Fields in Cutten.
