Several young players continued to shine for the Northern Humboldt Giants on Saturday, as they swept an American Legion doubleheader at the Southern Humboldt 76ers.
The Giants took game one 4-3 and won game two 12-4 to improve to 3-0 on the young season.
Del Norte’s William Bommelyn continued his impressive to the new season with four more hits on the day, including going 3-for-4 in the opener.
Miles Oliver and Saxton Taylor each also had a hit in the win, with Oliver pitching 4.2 innings for the victory on the mound and striking out four.
Game two wasn’t as close, with 10 different Giants players accounting for 16 hits.
Incoming high school freshmen Tanner Kees and Hunter Carper each had three hits in the win, as did Del Norte’s Ethan Thomas.
Oliver capped a big all-around day with another hit, while Ty Ghisetti had a triple.
Finn Warner, Cole Blackburn, Liam Gorona and seventh-grader Mateo Reiman each also had a hit in the win.

Warner got the victory on the mound, throwing 3.1 innings and striking out three, with Saxton and Gorona both seeing time in relief.
“This is a young team and they’re stepping up at the right time,” head coach Troy Ghisetti said.
The Giants will host the 76ers in a doubleheader on Tuesday, with game one set for 4 p.m., before traveling to play at the Medford tournament later in the week.
