Humboldt Crabs to play this weekend ‘rain or shine’

By Ray Hamill — The Humboldt Crabs will play this weekend no matter what the weather, the team announced on social media on Thursday morning.

Friday night’s season opener will see the longtime local summer collegiate club host the Humboldt Eagles at 7 p.m. at the Arcata Ball Park (which is looking great!)

It should be an interesting matchup between some former teammates, with six local players on this year’s Crabs team, many of whom played for the Eagles over the past couple of summers.

The Eagles finalized their all-star roster earlier on Thursday morning after two days of tryouts.

The Crabs will play two additional games on opening weekend, hosting the Alameda Cardinals on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

And the club has no intention of shying away from any potential wet conditions, with rain forecast for the weekend.

“These games are rain or shine, so bring your rain jackets and towels to sit on just in case,” the club announced on Facebook.

Gates open an hour before first pitch on each day and tickets can be purchased on the team’s website and at Wildberries Marketplace.
