Loggers fall to Monterey in high-scoring and competitive semifinal

The Eureka girls fell just short in their bid for a NorCal championship game appearance in a 9-8 loss at Monterey on Thursday.

There was little to separate the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds in this high-scoring game, but the home team held on to advance to Saturday’s Division-4 championship game against No. 1 seed Dixon.

The loss ends the season for the Eureka girls, who had a memorable campaign and only lost three times all spring.

The Loggers closed out with a record of 27-3, winning both the Big 5 and the Charlie Lakin Tournament.

No stats were immediately available from this game.

More to follow.
