By Ray Hamill — With rain forecast for this weekend, the CIF NorCal Division-3 baseball championship, which was scheduled for Saturday, has been pushed back.

The St. Bernard’s Crusaders advanced to the championship game with a comfortable 8-0 win over Central High out of Fresno in Thursday’s semifinal.

And with No. 3 seed Rio Americano losing 11-1 to No. 7 Alpha Charter in Thursday’s other semifinal, the No. 4 Crusaders will host the big showdown.

But when?

As of Thursday night, the championship has been tentatively scheduled for Monday at 4 p.m. at Crusader Field.

However, if the weekend storm lingers, it could push the game back to Tuesday.

And that means senior ace Nick Dugan could get the start on the mound in the decider, although head coach Matt Tomlin has a wealth of pitching options and says he will start fellow senior Aidan Dorsch if the game is played on Monday, with Dugan available in relief.
