Eagles and Crabs to face off in season openers for both teams

Humboldt Crabs Baseball

By Ray Hamill — Summer baseball is just around the corner and the season is set for a bumper opening night after a change to the schedule was announced this week.

The Humboldt Crabs were scheduled to open their 77th season with a three-game series against the Ventura Pirates next week, but the SoCal team was forced to back out of the trip, leaving a gap in the schedule.

The Humboldt Eagles, however, have stepped in to fill the vacancy on opening night, setting up an all-local matchup to kick off the new season for both clubs on Friday of next week.

The Crabs have also added two opening weekend games against the Alameda Cardinals on Saturday and Sunday.

The Eagles/Crabs meeting on opening night is the only scheduled game between the two local clubs this summer.

The 2022 Crabs season runs through August 7.
