By Ray Hamill — The Humboldt Crabs will carry a 13-game winning streak into this weekend’s season-ending, three-game series, giving local fans one last chance to see this summer’s team.

The Crabs will take on the Sacramento Yankees at the Arcata Ball Park, with games on Friday and Saturday nights, and the season finale on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.

On Wednesday night, the Crabs completed a two-game sweep of the Alaska Goldpanners, with former St. Bernard’s pitcher Caleb Ruiz posting his fifth win of the season.

Ruiz, who plays collegiately at Umpqua Community College in Oregon, threw five hitless innings, while walking six and striking out two.

He is now 5-0 on the summer in eight starts, with an ERA of 2.39.

Tyler Ganus slides safely into second base on Wednesday night.

Only Kaden Riccomini, who is 6-0 in seven starts, has more wins on the mound this summer than the local standout.

The Crabs, who are now 38-6, will hand out its annual end-of-season awards after Sunday’s game.
