A thrilling season for the local All-Star teams came to a conclusion on Wednesday night, as the McKinleyville 10-year-olds were eliminated from the NorCal State tournament in a 3-2 loss to Sonoma Valley in Gilroy.

The Mack 10s were one of three local teams to compete at their state tournament, along the Redwood Empire 11-year-olds and the McKinleyville 12s, who were each eliminated earlier in the week.

Both Mack teams placed fourth in NorCal, a fantastic accomplishment from a field of almost 400 teams, with the 10s winning two games at their State tournament.

The Mack 10s led early in their game on Wednesday, but Sonoma scored a run in both the third and fourth innings to tie things up at 2-2, before taking the lead an inning later on a solo home run.

Carson Hicks and Teoh Arredondo both pitched well for McKinleyville, while Hicks also had a big night at the plate, finishing 2-for-4.

Cabella Carper also had a pair of hits, including a big triple, as well as an RBI, while Arredondo 1-for-2 with a walk and Hudson Kapko was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Blake Carper, Everett Gruetzmacher and Colton Hawkes each had a walk.

An indication of how close it was for both Mack All-Star teams this week, three of their four combined losses at their respective State tournaments were by a single run, including two that went to extra innings.

All three local All-Star teams won both the District and Section titles, winning a remarkable 19 of 20 games between them on their way to the state tournaments.
