Redwood Acres plans special night for fans

Redwood Acres Raceway will celebrate its fans this Saturday night with Fan Appreciation Night.

The local track welcomed back spectators this summer after racing behind closed doors all of last season, with a huge crowd of around 3,000 showing up at the most recent event three weeks ago.

Tickets for Saturday are available at a reduced price of just $5 and can be purchased at the gate or through the raceway website, as well as at the following local businesses: Automasters and Don’s Rent-All in Eureka; McKinleyville Barber Shop in McKinleyville; and JC Auto in Fortuna.

The first 500 fans will also receive thunder sticks while the first 200 kids under 12 years old will receive a trophy.

Halfway through the schedule, it’s been a fantastic summer of racing so far, with plenty of tight season races still to be decided.

The Roadrunners, Mini Stocks, Bombers and Legends will all be on hand this weekend, and while the local Late Models are off, the new General Tire Super Late Model Series presented by Hoosier Tire West will be making its debut.

The gates open at 4 p.m., with the racing getting under way at 5:30 p.m.
