Ethan Fischel and Luke Powell each had three hits, including a pair of doubles, as the Humboldt Crabs opened a weekend series with the West Coast Kings with an 8-4 win at the Arcata Ball Park on Friday night.

The win was the ninth straight for the Crabs, who improved to 25-5.

The two teams will continue their three-game stand on Saturday night at 7 p.m., before concluding on Sunday with first pitch set for 12:30 p.m.

Fischel, a Eureka High graduate, has been a double-hitting machine in recent weeks, hitting 13 of them in his last 10 games, and he has now hit a team-best 15 this summer to bring his average at the plate up to.370

The Crabs scored three runs in the bottom of the third, but gave up four unanswered runs to trail by one heading into the bottom of the sixth.

But they rallied with five unanswered runs over the next three innings to secure the win.

Wesley Harper pitched 1.2 hitless innings in relief of starter Kaden Riccomini for the win.
