The Redwood Empire 11-year-old All-Stars moved within one win of a Section championship with their second win in two days on Friday night.
Playing in Yuba City, the RELL players pulled out a dramatic 1-0 victory with Brayden Bermers scoring the winning run in the fifth inning.
Bermers hit a single to get on base and stole his way to second, before breaking the deadlock moments later on a Scotty Brogan base hit.
It was all the RELL pitchers and defense would need, with three pitchers combining for the shutout.
Bermers got the start on the mound, pitching well for the first two innings before taking a hard hit by a ball on the shin, but he would continue to play a role at the plate with his big fifth inning.
Jake Vasquez took over on the mound in the second inning and also pitched well, before Wyatt Zeller came in to close the game out.
The local All-Stars also won their opening game at the tournament on Thursday night, 5-0.
Kyle Giacone impressed on the mound, giving up just one hit and no walks, while striking out 10 of the 12 batters he faced.
Sydney Mefford took over late and was equally impressive in frustrating the opposing bats.
At the plate, Giacone, Brogan, Bermers and Kade Pinochi each had a hit.
The RELL players have a day off on Saturday, before playing for the championship on Sunday night at 7 p.m.
