The Klamath Trinity All-Stars battled off elimination at the district 12-year-old Little League tournament for the second straight day on Monday, edging Arcata 6-5 in Fortuna.
Also in action on Monday, the McKinleyville bats remained hot with an 11-3 win over Redwood Empire to advance to the championship round.
The six-team tournament is now down to just three teams, with Redwood Empire and Klamath Trinity facing off on Tuesday night to see who will advance to play McKinleyville in the championship round on Wednesday.
Monday’s win for the Klamath Trinity All-Stars was their second straight and sees them improve to 2-1 in tournament play, their best showing in almost 30 years.
RELL, meanwhile, is now 1-1 in tournament play, while the red-hot Mack All-Stars improved to 3-0.
In their three games, the McKinleyville All-Stars have outscored their opponents 40-4.
Both Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s games are set for 6 p.m.
If McKinleyville loses on Wednesday, there will be a winner-takes-all championship game on Thursday.
