Hailey Dolcini showed just why she is one of the best pitchers in college softball right now, in front of a national television audience on Friday evening.

Dolcini threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout to lead the Fresno State Bulldogs to a 3-0 win over Minnesota in their opening game of the NCAA playoffs at the Los Angeles Regional.

The former Fortuna Husky struck out 13 and faced just 27 batters all game, walking just three of them.

The team’s offense left it late, breaking a 0-0 tie with two runs in the sixth.

And that would be more than Dolcini and her defense would need, as she improved to 22-4 on the season.

The dominating performance comes just one day after Dolcini was named all-region.

Last month she was included as one of 25 finalists for USA Softball’s player of the year.

During the regular season, Dolcini led the Mountain West Conference in ERA (1.01), opposing batting average (.169), batters struck out (241), batters struck out looking (73) and wins (21).

She was named the 2021 MW Pitcher of the Year.
