By Ray Hamill — Orion and Louis Cosce each won their fights at the Dana White Contender Series in very different but equally impressive ways on Tuesday night.

One displayed a steely determination that wore down his opponent, while the other showed that he’s not just “The Monster,” but one of the smartest monsters on the block.

Orion, the older of the two brothers, was taken down three times early in his showdown with previously undefeated Matt Dixon, but battled back to dominate as the fight progressed, eventually ending it on a TKO with just 18 seconds remaining in the third and final round.

“I think it was just a war of attrition and Orion broke him and proved to be the better fighter,” the brothers’ trainer Brian Wilson said from Las Vegas. “He proved to be the more durable guy and eventually his wrestling took over and his ground game was too much.”

Both Cosce brothers are former Hoopa High wrestlers, and that background is paying off, with UFC contracts awarded to each after Tuesday’s wins.

Louis emphatically won his fight against the experienced Victor Reyna, also ending it on a TKO, but doing so barely over a minute in.

“He’s amazing. He’s on another level,” Wilson said of the younger brother.

And he is so both athletically and mentally.

“His fight IQ is amazing,” Wilson added. “Just the things he’s able to see. He sees them and reacts in such a quick time.”

Wilson expects both fighters to be busy and back in the cage once or twice each before the end of the year.
