Hayden Bode hit a home run to highlight another good day for the Humboldt Eagles 19U American Legion baseball team on Monday, as they comfortably got the better of Fort Bragg 8-1 at St. Bernard’s.
The win was the seventh straight for the Eagles to start the summer season.
Bode finished 1-for-3 with the home run and three RBIs, leading the way as the home team out-hit the visitors 9-3.
Caleb Ruiz also had a big day at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, while Parker Rodgers maintained his impressive start to the new season, hitting successfully for the fifth straight game and finishing 2-for-3 with another RBI.
Jaden Gorge also has been impressive through the early going and was 2-for-4 against Fort Bragg with an RBI.
Bode Joyner rounded out a nine-hit team performance with a double.
The Eagles coaching staff used five different pitchers in the win, including starter Landon Gomes, who tossed three hitless innings and posted the win.
Gomes walked three and struck out three.
CJ Van Meter, Gorge, Ruiz and Bode each pitched one inning in relief.
Defensively, the Eagles had three errors on the day, the first time they have had more than one in a game this season.
