By Ray Hamill — The Six Rivers Youth Football Conference voted on Tuesday night to move forward with plans for a fall season.

The conference board will continue to monitor how COVID-19 continues to affect community sports and will meet again closer to the start of the preseason in mid July to discuss the up-to-date situation and possible restrictions and social distancing regulations.

But for now, it’s full steam ahead, with registration upcoming for all of the local programs.

“Too much is up in the air, so all the presidents wanted to keep pushing forward,” conference commissioner Joanna Russell said. “Everybody  wants to get the kids out there playing in some fashion.”

Russell said the board felt it was too early at this stage to make a definitive decision on canceling anything.

“We want to keep moving forward, and if we have to cancel at the end that’s a decision we’ll make down the line,” Russell.
