By Ray Hamill — The Eureka Loggers’ softball season may have been canceled, but the team’s coaches certainly left their mark.

On Wednesday, co-head coaches Katelyn Graeser-Fox and Sarah Fox were named Eureka’s coaches at the year to close out the Logger ESPYs awards.

The annual awards are voted on by senior student athletes and coaches and have been handed out daily over the past week and a half.

The two head coaches are among the most respected locally, not just in the sport of softball, but across the board.

And not only for their softball coaching, but for the culture they have built within their program.IMG_0979

According to a press release announcing the award, “Coach K and Coach Fox have become model coaches at Eureka High School. Building relationships and upholding and teaching the Logger Athletic Core Values has become a cornerstone of the EHS softball program.

“Even during this spring season, when the team wasn’t able to continue their play on the field, the team was having virtual workouts, scavenger hunts, weekly online meetings, and much more.

“At Eureka High, it is our goal to connect our student athletes with mentors that change the trajectory of the athletes’ lives, and this is exactly what Coach K and Coach Fox do on a daily basis with each individual softball player.”

One unnamed current player said this of the coaches, “I have never met anyone as caring as Coach Katelyn and Coach Fox. Every year they have shown me how much they care about my teammates and me by always pushing us to be the best on and off the field.

“My coaches have not only put in countless hours of helping us become a better athlete but they have also spent an endless amount of time teaching us to do the right thing, to do our best, and to always show we care.

“I wouldn’t be the athlete or leader I am today without the love and support from Katelyn and Sarah Fox.”
