Alex harding continued to set the pace for a young South Fork football team this past weekend, accounting for six touchdowns in a 44-8 win over Laytonville.
The junior star just about did it all for the Cubs, contributing all over the field.
He ran for three touchdowns, caught two more, and also threw for one.
And for good measure he also led the team in tackles with 10 and added an interception, one he returned 80 yards for a TD only to see the score overturned on a block in the back call.
“He’s very athletic, very smart and very intense, and he always works hard at practice,” SF head coach Karl Terrell said of the junior standout. “And he’s always there for you, and he’ll give you everything he’s got.”
Harding finished with 128 yards rushing on 15 carries, to go with 105 yards on three receptions.
Sean Hassall-Hoss returned to the lineup, stepping in at quarterback and completing four of five passes for 117 yards and three touchdowns, while also carrying the ball 11 times for 35 yards.
Hassall-Hoss also had an interception on defense.
Senior Ian Burton also ran hard, rushing for 22 yards on five carries, while Ray Gotcher had the team’s only sack.
Overall, however, it wasn’t a great performance by the Cubs, who improved to 2-1.
“I wasn’t really happy with the game regardless of the score,” Terrell said. “We stopped them at the line of scrimmage, but we didn’t tackle as well as last week.”
The Cubs will have their hands full at Branson this weekend.
