Only two race nights remain on the schedule for Redwood Acres Raceway in 2026, including this Saturday’s event presented by Leon’s Car Care Center.
The night’s action will feature the second visit of the season for the NorCal Legend Series, as well as the Mid-City Motor World Late Models, bombers and the Dirt 4 Bangers.
The NorCal Legend Series previously visited the Acres on July 25 in what proved to be an instant-classic race.
Kai Lovell was able to out-duel Jarrett Dickson on the final lap for his first career win in the series following an incident earlier in the lap between Brandon White and Cody Winchel.
Since that event, Lovell was able to earn his second win at Lakeport Speedway on August 15.
The July race at RAR for the series drew a strong field of talented drivers from up and down the West Coast and Saturday’s event will likely be the same.
In the Late Models division, meanwhile, Jerry Peterson made a bold statement with his dominant win in the most recent feature race on August 15.
Peterson was able to close the gap on Brandon Barnwell to 11 points in the race for this year’s season championship.
Landen Green, who placed second in that race, is still mathematically alive for the track championship but faces long odds due to his 40-point deficit to Barnwell.
Dennis DelBiaggio and Luke Hall are in fourth and fifth and out of the running for the championship, but both drivers will be looking to finish the season strong starting with a feature win Saturday.
In the bomber division, T.J. Sorrels is hoping to make it back-to-back championships, but his father Jimmy Sorrels is also well in the hunt and is just eight points back headed into the weekend action.
Stephen Ghilarducci is enjoying an impressive rookie season and is 21 points behind in third, while Jeff French and Sorhna Li are fourth and fifth, 29 and 67 points behind T.J. Sorrels.
Christian Sanchez is the points leader for the Dirt 4 Bangers as he looks to be the inaugural champion for the division.
T.J. Applewhite is his closest competition and is 35 points behind in second.
Jimmy Sorrels has an outside chance at the championship but is 71 points out in third.
Clark Liwang and Gene O’Dell are fourth and fifth.
Practice for this weekend’s event is scheduled on Friday from 5 p.m. to dark.
Grandstands open on Saturday at 3 p.m. with qualifying starting at 4 p.m. and racing starting at 5.
