Eureka High Athletics
Eureka seniors Owen Hiscox and Macy Secor have been named the Jay Willard Award winners for 2026.
Named after legendary Eureka High coach Jay Willard, this Loggers award recognizes student-athletes who embody excellence both on and off the field.
According to the Loggers, the award is more than an athletic honor and represents legacy, leadership, sportsmanship, character and the lasting impact one person can have on a school and community.
Secor and Hiscox both enjoyed outstanding senior years.
Secor was a standout in both volleyball and softball for the Loggers.
In the fall, she earned all-league honors in volleyball after playing a key role for the team on the way to a Big 5 championship.
Eureka finished the season with a record of 21-8 and was 7-1 in the Big 5.
Secor was equally impressive in the spring, leading the Eureka girls to a breakout season in softball after a winless campaign in 2025.
Secor and her teammates took home the Charles Lakin Tournament trophy with a 14-7 win over Fortuna earlier this month, before advancing further in the North Coast Section playoffs than any other H-DNL team.
The senior leader batted a very impressive .402 at the plate with team-highs in RBIs (27) and doubles (12).
The Loggers finished the season 13-13.

Secor will play volleyball at College of the Redwoods in the fall.
She is also one of this week’s Humboldt Sports Athletes of the Week.
According to a school announcement, “Macy has been a standout in both volleyball and softball, known for her athletic ability, resilience, coachability, and leadership.
“From her incredible softball stats to continuing volleyball at CR next year, she truly represents the spirit of this award.”
Hiscox was just as influential on the basketball court in what was an historic winter for the Loggers.
The senior sharpshooter helped lead the Eureka boys to the program’s first-ever NCS crown in the sport.

Macy Secor
“Owen has left a tremendous mark on Eureka High athletics through his dedication, leadership, and positivity,” the school announcement said. “From helping lead the Loggers to a historic basketball season to revitalizing the EHS student section, he has been an outstanding ambassador for our school.”
The Loggers finished the season 19-13 and Hiscox received an all-league honorable mention for his performances.
Hiscox, who will continue his playing career at El Camino College in Torrance after graduation, averaged 10.5 points a game in his final high school season.
According to the school announcement, “Both Macy and Owen exemplify the qualities Coach Willard valued most: hard work, integrity, sportsmanship, and commitment to others. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor.”
