
College of the Redwoods baseball got its first conference win over the weekend, taking game three of a three-game series at Siskiyous.
The CR men lost game one 10-7 and followed that with a 13-2 loss in game two, before closing out with a 12-5 victory in the series finale.
Redwoods is now 3-21 on the season and 1-10 in the Golden Valley Conference.
“Very fun series although we only took one,” CR head coach John Downey said. “We’re very happy to see the team have some success in this season. The vibes are definitely up and it’s been really encouraging to see these guys fly around the field.
“They definitely deserve to feel that success, and we look forward to raking that momentum into this next series.”
Next up, Redwoods will play a three-games eras at Butte this weekend, opening with a doubleheader on Friday, beginning at noon.
Xavier La Pena led the way the plate in the weekend win, going 3-for-4, while former McKinleyville Panther Tyson Bragg continued to impress and finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
Tristen Valenzuela pitched six innings for the win on the mound allowing two earned runs on seven hits and a walk and striking out five.

Kamole Gilliland also had a good game at the plate and was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Javi Meza went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Gillialand also had a base hit in the game-two loss, while Addisson Guber went 2-for-3.
Drew Franklin took the loss on the hill in the series opener, pitching six strong innings.
The former Fortuna Husky allowed just one earned run on three hits and two walks and struck out two.
Meza went 2-for-5 with two doubles.
Siskiyous is now 2-8 in conference and 8-16 overall.
