The Cal Poly Humboldt women overcame a slow start in their basketball game at Cal State San Marcos on Friday night on the way to pulling out a 76-55 win.
The victory was the third straight for the Jacks in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, as they improved to 3-0 in conference and 5-4 overall.
The CPH men were also in action at San Marcos on Friday, but lost their game 64-56, dropping to 1-2 in conference and 3-6 overall.
The Humboldt women scored just five points in the opening quarter of their game, but clawed their way back while outscoring the home team 71-50 the remainder of the night.
The 3-0 start to conference play of the program’s best since 2019.
Kyori Lloyd gave the Jacks a big spark off the bench and finished with a game-high — and season-high — 23 points on an efficient 6-for-9 shooting performance.
Lloyd also made 10 of her 12 attempts at the free-throw line.
Jordyn Smith also impressed in the win and finished with a double-double, scoring 19 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.
Smith added five blocks in a complete all-around performance and currently leads the CCAA in blocks per game (2.6) while ranking 15th nationally.
Shade Satica added 10 points, nine rebounds, and six steals.
Satica lead the CCAA in steals per game and ranks third nationally with 4.4 a game.
Humboldt found its rhythm in the second quarter, shooting 42.9 percent and cutting into the early deficit, before taking control after halftime.
The Jacks were especially effective at the free throw line, finishing 26-for-30 (86.7 percent), including a perfect 6-for-6 in the fourth quarter.
Humboldt also forced 28 turnovers and converted them into 25 points.

The CPH men, meanwhile, came up short in their first game in almost two weeks.
The Lumberjacks trailed 32–26 at the break and were also outscored in the second half, 32-30.
San Marcos capitalized at the free throw line down the stretch to seal the win.
Wayne Hampton III led the Jacks with a career-high 16 points off the bench, including an impressive 14 points in the second half.
Hampton provided a spark on both ends of the floor, attacking the basket and knocking down timely shots to keep Humboldt within striking distance.
Humboldt’s Shakir Odunewu had strong play in the paint, finishing with 13 points on an efficient 5-for-7 shooting night while pulling down eight rebounds.
Brandon Bento-Jackson, Dorrell Thomas and Tyriq McNeal each chipped in eight points, with McNeal also grabbing five rebounds and going 6-for-9 from the free throw line.
Both Cal Poly Humboldt teams will be back in action on Sunday afternoon at Cal State Monterey Bay.
The women play at 1 p.m., while the men tip off at 3 p.m.
