A shorthanded Fortuna boys basketball team rebounded from a season-opening loss to Fort Bragg with a dominating foundation game victory over Potter Valley on Tuesday.
The Huskies, who are battling some early-season injuries and are still missing their contingent of football players playing in the North Coast Section playoffs, lost to Fort Bragg 56-49 on Friday night.
However, they quickly bounced back with a 73-26 win over the Bearcats.
Tanner Franklin led the Huskies with 18 points, while teammate Landon Eberhardt added 16 points and Rawland Bones chipped in 12 points.
The Huskies finished the game with just seven players.
“Kids are gutting it out while we wait for our football guys to continue their great run and join us,” Fortuna head coach Norm Sotomayor said. “Early-season injuries have challenged us.”
Ty Roberts also scored in double digits for the Huskies and added 11 points in a game that Sotomayor described as a “great rebound from a tough opener at Fort Bragg.”
Next up, the Huskies will host Cloverdale on Friday night.
“We need to continue to improve and guys need to be versatile and flexible in the preseason,” the coach added.
Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
