Kuron Devlin scored on a pair of kick returns at Montgomery on Friday night, as the Crusaders continued to roll with their fourth lopsided win in four games.
St. Bernard’s traveled to Santa Rosa to play the Division-4 school and cruised to a 51-16 victory, improving to 4-0.
And once again, the game was over as a contest before halftime, as the dominating visitors racked up 37 unanswered points in the opening two quarters.
Devlin had a huge game in the win, finding the end zone on a punt return and on a kickoff return.
The senior standout also scored on a touchdown reception from quarterback Trenten Hagler to cap an outstanding individual night.
Hagler was equally impressive, throwing for four TDs and running in for another with one of his most impressive games yet for the Crusaders.
The junior QB appears to be getting better and better running the offense every week, and that’s good news for St. Bernard’s, as the team gets set to open conference play in two weeks.
The always dangerous Tyler Hinrichs also continued to impress for the visitors and pulled in two TD catches from Hagler.
And that’s not all for the senior, who was one of this week’s Humboldt Sports Athletes of the Week.
One week after nailing a monster 51-yard field goal against Hoopa, Hinrichs kicked a 44-yard field goal on Friday.
On the defensive side of the ball, it was a good night for senior lineman Jahseree Bailey, who finished with 4.5 sacks and continually caused the home team’s offense problems.

According to the North Coast Section website, Montgomery is a Division-4 school of 1249 students, more than six times the size of St. Bernard’s, a Division-7 school of 197 students.
Montgomery dropped to 0-4.
The Crusaders will have a bye next week before kicking off the Big 4 with a huge showdown against crosstown rival Eureka at Crusader Field in two weeks.
The St. Bernard’s JVs also won their game at Montgomery, winning 35-8 and improving to 4-0.
The two SB teams are now a combined 8-0 this season.
