Former Eureka Logger Myles Standish posted his team-leading fifth win of the season on Thursday night, as the Humboldt Crabs clinched a series sweep against the Rogues in Medford.

The Crabs won 14-8 to cap a big week for the team offense, which racked up 43 runs in three wins and stretched their winning streak to eight straight.

And that was more than run support for Standish, who has become one of the Crabs’ most reliable and consistent pitchers this summer.

The 2023 Eureka High graduate threw five innings and allowed eight hits and no walks while striking out six.

He is now 5-0 in seven starts with an ERA of 2.76.

Timmy Howard and Cameron Sewell led the team at the plate with three hits apiece.

Howard finished the game 3-for-6 and hit his second triple of the series, while Sewell was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double.

Sewell has been a big bright spot for the Crabs this summer and leads the team in average (.415) and home runs (seven). The double was his ninth of the summer and is just one off team-leader Adam Enyart’s 10.

Enyart also had a triple in the win, while teammate Liam Forsyth added a double.

Del Norte’s Preston Daniels, who was this year’s Big 5 MVP and the Humboldt Sports Baseball Player of the Year, pitched one inning in relief for the Rogues.

Daniels allowed one hit and three walks.

With the win, the Crabs improved to 27-4 overall and 11-4 in the Pacific Empire League.

The Rogues dropped to 26-11 and 4-5.

The Crabs are second in the league standings, trailing leaders Healdsburg (13-2) by two games and sitting four wins clear of third-placed Lincoln (6-7).

They are back on the North Coast this weekend as they get set for a four-game series against the West Coast Kings, including a doubleheader on Saturday night.

The series gets under way on Friday night at 7.

Saturday’s doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m.
