The Humboldt Crabs and Medford Rogues combined for 29 hits in a high-scoring showdown on Tuesday night, as the Crabs kicked off their second road trip of the summer.
The visitors trailed 4-1 after the opening inning but scored four runs in the top of the second and never trailed after that, holding on for a 14-10 win.
The victory was the team’s sixth straight and 10th in 11 games, as they improved to 25-4 on the summer and 9-4 in the Pacific Empire League.
A competitive Rogues team dropped to 24-8 and 4-3.
The Crabs would stretch their early lead to 8-4 in the top the third, but the Rogues would battle back to tie things up again going into the sixth in what was a back-and-forth and exciting game.
Two more runs in the sixth gave the visitors another slender advantage and they would add three more in the top of the eighth to widen the gap.
All nine Crabs starters hit successfully in the win, including home runs by Timmy Howard and Adam Enyart.
Enyart’s blast was his sixth of the summer and he finished 4-for-5 with four RBIs, also hitting a double.
Howard was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and also had a triple.
Keenan Morris added two hits, including a double and also scored four runs.
Houston Hirschkorn also had two hits in the win.
Miles Oliver got the start on the hill and pitched three innings for a no-decision, allowing eight hits and two walks and striking out one.
Spencer Jacobs got the win in relief, allowing four hits in three innings and striking out two, while former McKinleyville Panther Cameron Saso impressed late in the game, throwing three innings and allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out two.
The two clubs will continue their three-game series on Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m.
