Ferndale pitchers Prescott Langer and Colton Renner combined to throw a no-hitter against visiting Hoopa in Little 4 baseball on Tuesday.

The Wildcats won the game 18-0 in five innings to go to 6-3 in the Little 4 and secure at least a share of second place in the conference.

Langer got the start and pitched three strong innings, giving up just two walks and striking out two, with Renner throwing the final two innings and also walking two and striking out two.

“I was pleased with the way both pitchers threw,” Ferndale head coach Justin Andersen said. “Both were effective and found the zone.”

They weren’t the only Ferndale players to impress in the win.

Junior Tanner Pidgeon led the high-scoring Wildcats at the plate and was 4-for-4 with two RBIs while also scoring four runs.

Langer helpd his own cause by going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Parker Prior was 2-for-2 with four RBIs and made one of the best defensive plays of the game at shortstop.

The reigning Little 4 MVP dove hard to his right to make the play in the second inning and keep the no-hitter in tact.

Andersen described it as “one of nicest plays I’ve seen this year.”

Jonah Anderson also had two hits and two RBIs in the win, while Luke Dixon and Cash Mobley both finished 1-for-2, with Mobley driving in three runs and Dixon one.

Cade Renner also drove in a run and scored a run.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 12-3 on the season.

The Hoopa boys are now 3-6 in the Little 4, but with South Fork also losing on Tuesday at St. Bernard’s, the Warriors are closing in on the third and final conference spot for the upcoming Charles Lakin tournament.

  1. Sure is sad to see all the talent Hoopa has, and yet nobody to teach them the basic fundamentals. If they had a coach they would be dangerous but instead they have a dad who is just doing dad things instead of coaching them. I could only imagine how much more fun they would be to watch if coach Kane was still leading them, their still fun but it’s still a lot left to improve on
