Former H-DNL standout named all-conference for Simpson Red Hawks

It was an historic season for Simpson University baseball, and one former H-DNL star played a big role in that.

St. Bernard’s graduate Cayden Lee joined the Red Hawks this season and helped lead his new team to a first-ever California Pacific Conference championship.

And after having a big impact with his new team, Lee is one of several Simpson players to receive all-conference recognition this week.

The 2022 SB graduate has been included in the all-conference team as a third baseman after transferring to the Redding school from Umpqua Community College.

The hard-hitting Lee settled in quickly at the NAIA level.

He led the Red Hawks in average (.333), RBIs (38) and hits (49), the latter of which also was best in conference.

Lee also had five home runs and eight doubles, both of which were second best on the team.

The Red Hawks are 20-26 on the season and closed out conference play with a record of 13-6, four wins ahead off Westcliff and La Sierra, who tied for second place.

Lee and his teammates will now travel for the North Star Athletic Association Baseball Tournament, which gets under way in Dickenson, North Dakota, on Thursday.
