Former Eureka Logger and College of the Redwoods standout Makaila Napoleon is enjoying an impressive start to her overseas pro career as a basketball player.
This past summer Napoleon signed a one-year contract to play for Starlites Basketball Club in Malta and she has wasted little time settling in and impressing in the new league.
Napoleon and the Starlites are off to a 3-1 start in league play and the 2019 Eureka High graduate, who also played for College of the Redwoods and William Jessup University, was named the league’s Player of the Month for October.
During October, Napoleon played three games in the John Tabone Shield, averaging 33 minutes a game and a double-double.
She led her team in scoring with 21.3 points a game, as well as averaging 14.7 rebounds and 2.8 blocks.
Since then, Napoleon and the Starlites have begun league play and they are off to a 3-1 start, with Napoleon continuing to play a key role.
Starlites posted a pivotal 65-63 win over one of their biggest rivals, Luxol, over the weekend, a victory that lifted them into a tie for the league’s best record.
Napoleon led the way in the win and finished with 33 points and 13 rebounds, which earned her league player of the week honors.
