Submitted photo

Humboldt Roller Derby is getting in the spirit of the Halloween season with a pair of games scheduled on Saturday night.

The “Nightmare on Wheels” event will run from 6 to 10 p.m. and will take place at the Redwood Acres Franceschi Hall.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and tickets are available online at www.HumboldtRollerDerby.com, as well at STIL (Eureka), at Wildberries (Arcata) and at the entry gate (as available).

Game one is the Humboldt Roller Derby Spookiest Undead Expo (Black vs. White), and game two pits the HRD against returning rivals, Cherry City Roller Derby.

Organizers are encouraging fans to show up in Halloween costumes and the night will feature a costume contest at halftime.

As always, concession items, local beers and ciders and the latest Humboldt Roller Derby merchandise will be available for purchase.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you volunteers, committee folk, and fans,” a press release promoting the event read. “This is an all hands on deck production, and we couldn’t do it without you.”

Tickets for adults cost $12 (presale) and $15 at the door.

Kids under 10 are free.

For more information on the event and the local roller derby association, visit the Humboldt Roller Derby website.
