By Ray Hamill — Prescott Langer ran for three fourth-quarter touchdowns on Saturday to lead the Ferndale Wildcats to a come-from-behind win over St. Bernard’s at Crusader Field in another instant classic.
The win was the second for the Cats over a Big 4 opponent in two weeks and leaves them unbeaten on the season with a record of 4-0.
That will give them plenty of momentum going into next week’s conference opening Little 4 game against Hoopa Valley at Coach Carlson Wildcat Field.
So too will the fact that for the second straight week, they won with a fourth-quarter comeback.
An exciting game featured 10 touchdowns, including five in the fourth quarter alone.
Prescott finished scored four TDs in the win, while teammate Tanner Pidgeon added two, as did St. Bernard’s Michael Manzi.
The Wildcats won the game 39-27 after outscoring the home team 27-7 in the fourth quarter.
Check out the complete-game highlights above including all 10 touchdowns.
The loss was the first of the season for St. Bernard’s, which dropped to 4-1.
Interestingly, the Ferndale Wildcats and Arcata Tigers, who are expected to battle it out for the Little 4 championship in the coming weeks, have combined for five wins in five games against Big 4 teams this season.
The game highlights include both of Manzi’s TDs, including a first-half 38-yard TD reception from quarterback Treten Hagler.
St. Bernard’s Tyler Hinrichs also scored a TD, while teammate Garrett Shanahan pulled in a TD catch from Hagler.
The highlights also include a spectacular one-handed game-sealing interception by Ferndale’s Luke Dixon.
Next week, the Crusaders will have a bye in action before traveling to Tennessee for pair of games and a team-bonding trip.
The Wildcats, meanwhile, will kick off the Little 4 at home against Hoopa.

Hats off to both teams.
I know the Crusaders were without some key players and with a small in number team that is always a problem. However, if they had not turned the ball over twice during key drives and had eliminated some key penalties at a critical time of game, they would have pulled off the victory.
I also think they need to run the ball more since ball control is a big part of winning games in football. Leaning on passing too heavy can turn out badly with a team like the Wildcats that are all about ball control.
