All four District 26 teams in action at various tournaments around the state remain in contention for a championship after a busy weekend.
And all four will be back in action on Monday evening, including three who will be playing elimination games.
The McKinleyville 12s have won both of their tournament games so far and will play for the Section 2 championship when they take on Foothill in Rocklin at 6 p.m.
The District 26 champs have won both of their games so far in what has been a very competitive tournament, defeating West Chico 4-3 in eight innings on Thursday and following that with a 1-0 win over Foothill on Saturday.
If the Mack all-stars win their rematch with Foothill on Monday evening, they will be crowed Section champions and advance to the NorCal state tournament.
If they lose, they would play Foothill again in a winner-takes-all final.
The Redwood Empire 11s, meanwhile, are 1-1 in their Section tournament in Yuba City.
The RELL players lost their tournament opener against Chico Central on Saturday but bounced right back to beat Colusa in an elimination game on Sunday.
Redwood Empire will now play Red Bluff on Monday night at 7 p.m. and a victory will send them into the championship round against an undefeated Chico Central team.
Two other McKinleyville teams are also in action on Monday.
The McKinleyville 10-year-olds are 2-1 in their section tournament in Cottonwood.
The District 26 champs opened tournament play with a 12-2 win over Sutter Area on Friday night before falling 16-1 to Chico Central on Saturday morning.
However, they bounced back to beat Sutter Area a second time in an elimination game on Sunday, this time by a score of 18-4.
The Mack all-stars will now play East Redding on Monday night at 6 p.m., where a win will send them on to Tuesday’s championship.
If they win on Monday, they would get a rematch against Chico on Tuesday.
And rounding out the list of local teams still competing, the McKinleyville Juniors are 1-1 in their NorCal State tournament in Rocklin.
The McKinleyville players won their tournament opener against Delta-Sunrise on Saturday night, before falling to Pacifica on Sunday.
They will play an elimination game against College Glen on Monday night at 5 p.m.
