The Humboldt Crabs continued to struggle in Pacific Empire League play after dropping another road game on Friday night.

The Crabs traveled to Medford to play the Rogues in hot conditions and lost 7-4.

It was the team’s seventh conference road loss in seven PEL road games this summer, as they dropped to 2-8 in the new league.

And once again, it was a game that got away from them late.

After battling back from a three-run deficit to tie the game in the top of the seventh, the Crabs gave up three runs in the bottom of the eighth.

The Crabs, who played error-free baseball, racked up eight hits in the loss, including a three-hit night for Jett Ruby.

The lead-off hitter finished 3-for-5, including a double, with three RBIs and a run.

Teammate Antonio Avila was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and also reached base on a hit-by-pitch, while Felix added a double.

Andrew Overland got the start on the mound for the Crabs and threw four innings for a no decision.

Overland allowed four runs on six hits and a walk and struck out three.

Eli Yamanaka took the loss in relief, allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk and striking out one.

The Crabs, who are now 16-11 overall, will try to get their first road win of the summer when they play the Rogues again on Saturday night at 7:35 p.m.

The game will be streamed live on the Crabs YouTube channel.

The two clubs will then close out their three-game weekend series on Sunday night.
