Little League All-Star tournaments set to begin this weekend

By Ray Hamill — Local Little League takes center stage this weekend with a pair of District 26 All-Star tournaments getting started.

The 10U tournament will be hosted by Klamath Trinity at Candy Stick Park in Willow Creek and will feature six teams.

Day one sees Arcata playing Eel River at 11 a.m., followed by McKinleyville and Redwood Empire at 1:30 p.m.

Klamath Trinity and Southern Humboldt will each have an opening-day bye.

The hosts will play the winner of the Arcata/Eel River game on Sunday at 11 a.m., while Southern Humboldt will play the winner of the McKinleyville/Redwood game at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The tournament will run for at least six days, with the championship round set to begin on Thursday at 6 p.m.

The District 11U tournament, meanwhile, will be hosted by Eel River and take place at Conroy Field in Fortuna.

The tournament features just three teams.

On opening day, McKinleyville will play Eel River at 11:30 a.m.

Redwood Empire will play the winner of that game on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

The tournament will run until at least until Tuesday.

The District 26 12U All-Star Tournament will begin next weekend and will be hosted by Southern Humboldt.
