Third baseman Keenan Morris hit his first home run of the summer on Wednesday night, as the Humboldt Crabs completed a two-game series sweep of the Bercovich Honors at the Arcata Ball Park.

The Crabs won the game 10-4 after also defeating the Honors 10-5 on Tuesday night.

Morris, a former Eureka Logger, hit a three-run blast in the bottom of the third inning to give the Crabs an 8-1 advantage and a lead they would not relinquish.

With the win, which was the team’s third straight, the Crabs improved to 7-2 on the summer.

Jehee Lee also had a good night at the plate and was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Morris finished 1-for-4.

The hard-hitting Victor Castaneda also continued to shine at the plate and added a triple for the home team, while Michael Mckernan had a double.

Seven different Crabs players combined for eight team hits.

Logan Saloman pitched five innings for the win on the hill, allowing two earned runs on two hits and three walks and also striking out seven.

On Tuesday night, the Crabs came from behind twice on the way to the victory, but they broke open a tight game with five runs in the bottom of the sixth and never looked back.

Caleb Nieman got the win on the mound in relief.

Nieman threw two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out three.

Six different Crabs players combined for nine hits, including two each by Jett Ruby, Javier Felix and Castaneda.

Ty Kennedy and Castaneda each had a double.

The Honors dropped to 0-3 on the summer with the two losses.

Next up, the Crabs will host the Novato Knicks in a three-game series this weekend, with game one set for Friday night at 7 p.m.

After that series, the Crabs will hit the road next week to begin play in the newly-formed Pacific Empire League.
