By Ray Hamill — With the high school baseball season winding down, local players are preparing for the summer American Legion season.

And with that in mind, the Northern Humboldt Giants will hold tryouts this weekend.

The tryouts will take place at McKinleyville High School on both Saturday and Sunday.

Tryouts begin at noon on both days and will run until 2 p.m.

The Giants, who are coached by legendary local coach Troy Ghisetti, will play a full schedule of games in June and July.

The season begins next week and includes several tournaments.

In addition to the Sutter tournament and the Muck Dog Tourney, the Giants will also host their own tournament in late June and play at the Humboldt Eagles tournament in mid July.
