The McKinleyville Panthers appear ready for the postseason.

On Thursday afternoon, the Big 5 champions closed out the regular season in baseball with a doubleheader sweep at Enterprise, winning 8-0 and 14-4.

The two victories stretch their winning streak to 12 straight games, as they get set for next week’s Charles Lakin tournament and the upcoming North Coast Section playoffs.

And the bats continued to make plenty of noise for the Panthers, who racked up 24 base hits over the two games, including the first varsity hit for freshman Bode Reininger.

“They’re hitting the ball really well,” head coach Mike Dobrec said of his players. “Our whole team is swinging the bat well. Even the guys who didn’t get hits are hitting the ball hard.”

Evan Fraser led the way at the plate in Thursday’s opener and finished 3-for-4, while Bryce Sargent Hunter Carper, Riles Egbert and Tenoch Tapia each added two hits.

Kolbe Stolpe rounded out a 12-hit team performance and Branson Dobrec had two RBIs.

Branson Dobrec also got the win on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing just three hits and striking out four.

Stolpe closed out the game and struck out three in the seventh.

Reininger, who is one of five freshmen on the team, finished 1-for-2 with an RBI in game two for his first varsity base hit.

Jackson Kelly pitched the opening four innings and gave up seven hits while striking out eight.

Next up for the Big 5 champs is the Charles Lakin tournament.

As a No. 1 seed, the Panthers have an opening-round bye and will begin tournament play in Thursday’s semifinals.
