The St. Bernard’s girls secured bragging rights for the city of Eureka with a 7-3 win over the Loggers in a non-league softball game at Samoa on Monday.
The Crusaders broke a late 3-3 tie with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, as they continue their impressive spring.
Freshman Kyna Tupua was instrumental in the win, finishing 3-for-4 and scoring a pair of runs, while senior Hannah Finck continued to roll at the plate and was 2-for-3.
Oni Orcutt (1-for-1), Emma Mowery (1-for-3) and Aubree Saunderson (1-for-3) each also had a hit in the win and each also scored a run.
Orcutt got the start in the circle and three three strong innings, allowing no runs on three hits and no walks and striking out six, before Mowery took over and pitched the final four innings for the win.
The sophomore pitcher gave up four walks and struck out five.

The Fortuna huskies remain right in the thick of the chase for the Big 5 championship after completing a conference series sweep over the Arcata Tigers with two more wins on Saturday.
Both games ended after five innings on the 10-run rule.
With the wins, the Huskies improved to 6-3 in the Big 5 with three games remaining and moved into a tie atop the conference standings with Del Norte (4-2), which split a doubleheader at McKinleyville on Saturday.
Arcata dropped to 2-4.
Sophomore pitcher Isabel Sanchez dominated in the circle once again for the Huskies and threw a no-hitter on her way to the victory in the opener, before allowing just five hits in game two.

In game one, Sanchez struck out 11 batters, while walking seven and hitting two batters.
She also helped her own cause with a big performance at the plate finishing 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Myra Hayes also impressed at the plate and went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, while teammate Mariah Bravo was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
The Tigers bats had more success against Sanchez in game two, but it still wasn’t enough to get the win with the Fortuna defense up to the challenge.
The standout sophomore struck out out nine and walked just one, while also hitting two batters, and capped a perfect day at the plate by going 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Senior second baseman Kadence Mace also had a day to remember and and hit a booming two-run home run over the left centerfield fence for the offensive highlight of the game.
Bravo rounded out an impressive day at the plate by going 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Hailee Thompson was 2 for 3.

The Eureka girls traveled to Ukiah for a non-league doubleheader on Saturday and dropped both games to the Wildcats.
Senior Kaitlin Giacone impressed in the pitcher’s circle in both games games and had 23 strikeouts in 12 innings, while allowing just one walk all day.
She threw a one-hitter in the opener.
Unfortunately, however, the senior standout did not get a whole lot of offensive support., although there were some notable contributions.
In game one, Bailey Brown finished 2-for-3, while Guliana Burger had a double and Kosinobi Saulque added a base hit.
In game two, Giacone capped a good all-around day by going 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, while Jaycee Childress, Mallorie Beauchamp, Cassie Breazeal and Saulque each had a hit for Eureka.
