A pair of big shutout victories for the U19 girls highlighted a busy weekend for Sequoia FC, with six club teams in action.
Five of then were playing their spring league openers.
And none fared as well as the U19 girls, which won a pair of games to get their league campaign off to a flying start.
The Sequoia FC teams are made up of players form throughout the county.
The U19 girls play in the NorCal Premier Gold Division and opened league with a pair of games against WESCO.
The Sequoia FC girls won the opening game 5-0 on Saturday, and followed that with a second 5-0 victory on Sunday to go to 2-0.
The U19 boys also were in action in the NorCal Premier Gold Division, opening with a 2-1 win over Albion SC on Saturday.
Adrian Magana scored the first goal in the victory, with Kaleb Green assisting, while Tomas Paoli netted the second with an assist from Jesus Herrera.
The U19 boys were back in action on Sunday, but lost 3-0 to Eastshore Alliance.
“Regardless of the wins or losses, these competitions will bring long-term success to these individual athletes and the club as a whole,” club director of coaching Taylor McMillin-Bianucci said. “The coaches of Sequoia FC are looking forward to the rest of the spring season and the continued development.”
The U16 boys also were in action and split a Sunday doubleheader in the NorCal Premier Silver Division.
The local boys were involved in a pair of one-goal games, both against Napa Sports Soccer Club.

After dropping their opener 3-2, they responded with a 3-2 win in game two.
The U15 girls dropped both of their games against Santa Rosa Empire, falling 2-0 in both.
The U14 boys kicked off league play in the NOrCal Premier Gold Division by tying Briceno Soccer Club 2-2 on Saturday.
The following day they fell 2-1 to Mill Valley Soccer Club.
And rounding out busy weekend for the local travel club, the U13 girls played two games against WESCO in the NorCal Premier Bronze Division, losing the opener 1-0 and tying game two 1-1.

2nd goal, the goalie was visibly upset 😡…so, I undertook a video review…
2 points:
A) ball appears deflected as played,
B) goal scorer was in an offside position it appears based on positioning,
– shadows on field
– at moment ball played
Center was not in the best position, and who knows what AR was seeing…
…but clearly the goalie was livid.
