By Ray Hamill — Both College of the Redwoods basketball teams have qualified for the California Community College Athletic Association playoffs.

The Corsairs will open on the road on Wednesday night.

The College of the Redwoods men received the No. 22 seed in the 24-team NorCal bracket and will open at No. 11 Merced.

CR finished second in the Golden Valley Conference and had an overall record of 17-11.

Merced is 21-7.

The CR women were seeded one spot higher than the men at No. 21.

The Corsairs will open at No. 12 Sierra.

The CR women, who tied for second in the GVC, are 11-14 overall.

Sierra is 17-11.

The playoff brackets were announced on Sunday evening.
