
The Fortuna Huskies broke open a tight game with a big fourth quarter on the way to placing third at the Harlan Carter tournament in Redding in boys basketball on Saturday.
The Huskies beat Shasta 59-47 and closed out tournament play 2-1.
Guards Alfonso Medina and Kobe Spaulding were named to the all-tournament team.
Spaulding finished with 13 points in Saturday’s win, while Medina added 12 points.
Senior Russell Pascascio also had a good game and finished with 10 points, including a thunderous dunk in traffic that seemed to inspire his teammates in the fourth quarter.
Kallen Barrote added nine points in the win and Jace Barsanti had eight points, while Mason Toroni and Lo Payne provided a spark off the bench for the Huskies with some key key rebounds, defending and timely scoring.
No more than three points separated the two teams through the opening quarter before the Huskies took control late.
The Fortuna boys opened the tournament with a 47-43 wi over Foothill on Thursday before falling 77-63 to Placer on Friday.
The Huskies are now 2-2 on the season.
