By Ray Hamill — Ten different College of the Redwoods players have been named all-conference in football, including four former H-DNL standouts.

For the second straight year, sophomore Mason Priddy received all-conference recognition in two different positions, being honored both as a defensive back and a kick returner.

The Vancouver native is one of four Corsairs who were named all-conference for the second straight year, along with linebacker Tanner Forkner, defensive lineman Jayden Sandusky and quarterback Max Hough.

Running back Levi Cox-Cooley, receiver Anthony Aguirre, offensive lineman Cale Kuska, defensive lineman Tyse Whigham, defensive back Lane Branstetter and kicker Ryan Thomas each also were named to the all-conference team.

Forkner and Cox-Cooley, both Del Norte graduates, were among the four CR unanimous picks, along with Aguirre and Whigham.

Forkner has been one of the Corsairs’ most consistent performers for the past two seasons and led the team in tackles this year with 66, including 9.5 for a loss.

Whigham led the American-Pacific 7 Conference with 9.5 sacks and also had a team-high 19 tackles for a loss, which was second best in conference.

Branstetter, meanwhile, had a breakout year in the defensive backfield and led the conference with six interceptions, with teammate Jack Hartman second with five.

Branstetter, a former Ferndale Wildcat, also had  seven pass break-ups, which was second best on the team behind Priddy, who finished with 11.

Both Hough and Cox-Cooley enjoyed record-setting seasons with the team.

Hough closed out the regular season with 16 touchdown passes, giving him 40 for his career with the team, which is a new school record.

This season, the former Fortuna Husky completed 125 of 209 passes for 1,658 yards and threw just six interceptions.
