It was a successful start to the Little 4 for a pair of JV teams over the weekend, each of which posted a league-opening shutout.
The Ferndale Wildcats kicked off league play with a 24-0 win over the McKinleyville Panthers in the Cream City, while the Hoopa Warriors traveled to the coast to play Arcata and came way with a 20-0 win.
With the win, Ferndale improved to 4-1 and the young Wildcats now have the best record in the entire H-DNL.
Hoopa, meanwhile, is the hottest local JV team and has now won three straight games to go to 3-2 overall.
Both Hoopa and Ferndale will try to keep rolling in the Little 4 this weekend.
Hoopa will host McKinleyville and Ferndale travels to take on Arcata, both on Friday night, before the two league frontrunners meet in a pivotal game at Ferndale the following weekend.
Also in action this past weekend, St. Bernard’s bounced back from a loss at Hoopa the previous week to beat Ukiah 18-6 and the Crusaders are now 3-2-1 on the season.
The Fortuna Huskies also bounced back from a defeat at Foothill with a comfortable 40-14 win over St. Vincent de Paul at Husky Field.
The Del Norte Warriors also won, defeating Oakland Tech 28-0, while the Eureka Loggers fell to Windsor by the same score.
Of the eight H-DNL JV teams, only two have a losing record and five have winning records.
