Horse racing returns to the North Coast this week with the first of six days of racing action on Friday.
The Humboldt County Fair races, which will feature thoroughbreds and quarter horses, will run for three days on back-to-back weekends.
Friday’s action starts at 3:15 p.m.
Racing on Saturday and Sunday will start a little earlier, with the first race of the day set for 2:15 p.m. on both afternoons.
After a four-day break, the racing resumes on Aug. 25, with a start time of 3:07 p.m.
The final Saturday of the meet, which is usually one of the busiest days at the fair, begins at 2:07 p.m.
And the 127th fair races will then conclude on Aug. 27, with the action again getting started at 2:07 p.m.

Horse racing…nah, that is too unpopular these days… People racing… now that ought to be fun… at least make it challenging for the shortest jockeys… and the people in the event can learn what it’s like to be ridden on buck naked by a rider swinging their personalized weapon… tool… sports equipment… eh um…
…but hey, the crowd cheers…
