Eagles tournament wraps up after a busy few days

An action packed and busy few days at the Humboldt Eagles tournament closed out on Sunday.

The touring WBS Colts Red team won the 19U championship with a 5-2 win over Eugene on the final day.

The host Eagles also closed out with a win, getting the better of the NorCal Nationals 13-7 at Belotti Field.

The busy Eagles played seven games over the four days, winning five straight after dropping their opening two games on Thursday

On Friday, the Eagles defeated the Eureka Dukes 15-5 and the WBS Colts Red 12-2.

On Saturday, they defeated WBS Colts White 10-1 and the Dukes 12-4.

In 17U action, the Northern Humboldt Giants were the most impressive of the three local teams in the bracket.

The Giants opened the tournament with a victory over the WBS Colts 7-2 on Thursday, before falling to the NorCal Nationals 5-3 on Friday.

They played two games on Saturday, beating Roseburg 6-3 and Lassen 4-2, but would lose their final game to Roseburg on Sunday by a score of 9-6.

The Eagles, meanwhile, opened the tournament with a 15-2 win over the Six Rivers Kings 13Us, who stepped in at the last minute to fill the void after a team had dropped out.

They followed that on Friday with a 6-0 loss to Roseburg, before posting a pair of wins on Saturday, 9-4 over the Colts and 9-2 over Tehama.

The Eagles then dropped their final tournament game on Sunday, losing 11-0 to Lassen.

The young Kings, meanwhile, represented themselves well despite matching up against much older opposition.

After dropping their opening four games, they closed out with a 9-8 win over the Colts on Sunday.

The Kings scored in all five of their games.
