Hard-hitting Eagles continue to roll at Eugene tournament

Cayden Lee and Cody Collins both hit home runs on Friday as the Humboldt Eagles 19Us remained red-hot at the plate at the Eugene tournament.

The hard-hitting duo led an impressive offensive performance in a 10-2 win over the Boys of Summer and the Eagles improved to 2-0 in tournament play.

Rogan Bode also had a big day at the plate and finished 3-for-5 with a triple, a double and two RBIs.

Ethan Thomas was equally impressive and finished 3-for-4 with a double, as seven Eagles players racked up 13 hits in the win.

Matt Letter and Cole Ayala each also had multiple hits.

Letter was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Ayala was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Willie Bommelyn added a triple and an RBI.

Caden Vance got the win on the mound.

The Eureka graduate, who is enjoying a very good summer with the local American Legion club, threw 6.2 innings and gave up just two runs while striking out eight.

Collins closed out the game.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 18-7-1 on the season.

They will continue tournament play against the Portland Barbers on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

The Eagles return home next week to host their annual tournament, with 16 teams competing over four busy days in both 19U and 17U brackets.
