The Humboldt Crabs broke a two-game skid with a 6-5 win over the Blues in San Luis Obispo on Friday night, but the Blues bounced back to shut out the Crabs 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.
With pitcher Alejandro Huezo in control on the mound early on Friday, the Crabs opened up a 6-2 lead.
The home team would narrow the gap on a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth, but the visitors held on late for the victory.
Wyatt Reginatto and Griffin Myers led a 10-hit team performance.
Reginatto was 2-for-3 with two runs, while Myers was 2-for-4 with a walk.
Huezo gave up six hits and a walk in seven innings and struck out four.
He allowed just two earned runs.
Brady Chavez pitched one hitless inning for the save.
The Crabs’ bats, however, were held in check in Saturday’s shutout with just four team hits, including a double by Michael McKernan.
Cameron Saso took the loss on the mound despite a solid performance.
The former McKinleyville Panther allowed four earned runs on seven hits and four walks and struck out six.
The two teams will close out a three-game series on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on YouTube and broadcast live on 107.3 FM and 1340 AM.
Sunday’s showdown will be the final road game of the summer for the Crabs.
The Crabs are now 11-5.
