The Humboldt Composite Mountain Bike Team closed out another good season by competing at the NorCal league championships recently.
The HCMTB riders headed south to race at the Six Sigma Winery in Lake County to a cap a brief season that included a lot of traveling just about every weekend over the last two months.
The local team is made up of riders from several H-DN schools, and 10 of them qualified for the league championships after accumulating enough points during the regular season races.
A total of 736 riders from all over the northern half of the state competed on a course the locals described as “challenging … with significant sustained steep climbs that had technical, rocky switchbacks.”
HCMTB’s Hailey Kroeker closed out an impressive season individually by placing 10th nout of 21 riders in the girls varsity race, while teammates Sierra Paliaga and Sasha Love competed in the girls JV race and placed 42nd and 49th place, respectively, out of 71 riders.
In the freshmen boys race, HCMTB’s Dinon McIntosh had a good showing and placed 17th out of 94 riders, while teammate Sawyer Katri was 49th in the same race.
In the freshman girls race, Humboldt’s Evelyn Seemann also qualified tor the big season finale and finished 32nd.
Ranger Code was 56th in the sophomore boys race, while teammates Nico Constanzo (61st), Kai Lamb (73rd) Itsuki Kitayma (74th) rounded out the local contingent in the JV boys championship race.
